Fence & Gate Installation in Lake Jackson, TX

Wood, vinyl, aluminum, ornamental iron and chain-link fences, plus driveway, electric and commercial gates, for Lake Jackson homeowners and businesses. The city sits entirely within Brazoria County on mature, tree-lined residential streets, where an existing tree or a curved lot line can change a fence layout more than it would on a flat, straight-edged subdivision – the checker below sorts out what else to confirm before you order.

The short answer

Mustang Fencing Services installs and repairs wood, vinyl, aluminum, ornamental iron and chain-link fences, plus driveway, electric and commercial gates, for Lake Jackson, TX from our Galveston base. The city sits entirely within Brazoria County on roughly 19.7 square miles of mostly mature, tree-lined residential streets. Some subdivisions are deed-restricted, which can add an HOA approval step on top of the city permit – though Texas law limits how far an HOA can go in restricting a perimeter fence.

What approvals does your Lake Jackson fence need?

Answer four questions. This points you to who to call before you order material; it isn’t a permit decision, and your HOA’s own Design Guidelines or the city’s zoning for your lot can add details this can’t check.

Material note

General guidance, not a permit decision: the City of Lake Jackson and your HOA’s Architectural Control Committee (if any) make the actual call. Based on Texas Property Code 202.023(b), checked October 6, 2026.

One county, mature tree-lined streets

Lake Jackson’s roughly 19.7 square miles sit entirely inside Brazoria County. Many of its residential streets were laid out around mature trees, so a fence line sometimes has to work around a trunk or follow a curved lot rather than run straight – something worth flagging at your site visit. What usually changes a given fence project is whether the lot sits inside a deed-restricted subdivision, and whether the job is a solid privacy fence or an open, see-through style (see the gate comparison below). Where a deed restriction applies, that subdivision’s Architectural Control Committee (ACC) can set its own style, color and height guidelines on top of the city code. Texas Property Code 202.023(b) limits that power: an HOA can regulate the type of fencing, but it can’t use those rules to effectively prohibit a perimeter fence outright.

We don’t publish specific Lake Jackson height or permit numbers here. The City’s own Building & Permits Services page lists checklists for pools, solar panels, generators and driveways, but states no fence-specific height or permit figure – confirm the current specifics with the City before you order material. The checker above walks through who to ask.

Three panels. Left: City of Lake Jackson, one building and zoning code for the whole city limit, which sits entirely within Brazoria County and covers about 19.7 square miles. Middle: deed-restricted HOA subdivisions, where present, whose Architectural Control Committee can add style, color and height rules on top of the city code, limited by Texas Property Code 202.023(b) which stops an HOA from effectively banning a perimeter fence. Right: mature trees on the lot, common on older Lake Jackson streets, where a fence line that follows a curved street or works around an existing tree needs more layout planning than a straight suburban lot line. Not every Lake Jackson lot hits all three. A backyard privacy fence with no pool and no HOA usually needs only the city permit; add the ACC step if the subdivision is deed-restricted, and flag mature trees or a curved lot line at your site visit so the layout is planned around them.

Driveway, electric and commercial gates

The two basic ways to open the same driveway opening use very different amounts of space, so it’s worth checking both against your site before choosing:

Questions we get about this

Do you install fences and gates in Lake Jackson, TX?
Yes. We install and repair wood, vinyl, aluminum, ornamental iron and chain-link fences, plus driveway, electric and commercial gates, for Lake Jackson homeowners and businesses from our Galveston base.
What county is Lake Jackson in?
Lake Jackson sits entirely within Brazoria County, so a single city building and zoning code applies to the whole city limit.
Do I need a permit for a new fence in Lake Jackson?
Most new fences and gates need a city permit. The City of Lake Jackson’s Building & Permits Services page lists checklists for pools, solar panels, generators and driveways, but does not publish a fence-specific height or permit figure – confirm the current requirements with the City before you order material.
Will my HOA need to approve my fence too?
If your lot is in a deed-restricted subdivision, its Architectural Control Committee typically reviews fence plans before the city permit. Not every Lake Jackson subdivision is deed-restricted. Texas Property Code 202.023(b) says an HOA can regulate the type of fencing but can’t use that power to effectively prohibit a perimeter fence outright.
Can you build a fence around an existing tree?
Yes. On older, tree-lined lots we plan the fence line around a trunk or a curved street edge rather than cutting straight through it. This takes more layout planning than a straight run, which is why we measure on-site before quoting.
How much room does a driveway gate need?
It depends on the type. A swing gate needs clear ground inside the opening as deep as each leaf is wide. A slide gate instead needs a track roughly twice the opening running along the fence line. See our driveway gate page for the full comparison.
