How Much Does a Vinyl Fence Cost in Galveston County, TX?
A vinyl fence isn’t one price. The total is a stack of separate parts — the panels, posts set in concrete, how exposed your lot is to wind, any gates, and site work — and each one moves with your yard. Here’s what a complete quote should cover, the real numbers behind the biggest cost drivers, and how to turn a quote into a monthly payment.

Search results quote a national price per linear foot, but that figure can’t know your lot. A vinyl fence’s cost is a stack of separate parts: the panels (style and material), posts set in concrete, how much wind exposure your lot has, any gates, and site work such as removing an old fence or working around a slope. One manufacturer’s guide calls for post holes 30 in. deep (48 in. for 8 ft privacy panels) and tightens post spacing from 97 in. to 75 in. on open, wind-exposed lots — more posts and more concrete for the same length of fence. We don’t publish prices here; get an itemized written quote, then use the calculator below to turn it into a monthly payment.

Why there’s no single price
Type the question into a search engine and you’ll get a national price range per linear foot. That number can’t know your lot: how long and tall the run is, which style you pick, how exposed the site is to wind, how many gates, what’s involved in removing an old fence, and whether a permit or HOA review applies. Each of those moves the total on its own.
That’s why the most useful thing to ask for is an itemized written quote: panels, posts, gates, site work and any permit cost on separate lines. Drawing V-1 shows where those line items sit on a typical project.
The line items, and what drives each one
- Panels. Vinyl and PVC are the same material; style sets how much of it a run uses. Full privacy panels are solid boards with no gaps and use the most material; picket and ranch rail use less. See vinyl fence styles.
- Posts and footings. One manufacturer’s guide calls for holes about 10 in. across for 4×4 posts (12 in. for 5×5), 30 in. deep, with concrete stopped 2–4 in. below grade — 48 in. deep for 8 ft privacy panels. Steel channel runs inside the top and bottom rails, and end and gate posts get an aluminum stiffener or concrete and rebar.
- Wind exposure. The 2021 IRC’s wind exposure categories, adopted in Galveston, separate a sheltered, in-town lot (Exposure B) from one open to wind off the water (Exposure D). One maker’s semi-privacy line allows posts up to 97 in. apart at exposure B, tightened to 75 in. at exposure D with a deeper footing. See the chart below.
- Gates. Every gate needs reinforced posts, and concrete needs time: one manufacturer says to leave a gate on blocks for 72 hours before hanging its weight. See vinyl gates.
- Site work. Slope (stepped or racked panels), roots, old footings and drainage all add labor. Drawing V-2 shows how terrain and wind both add posts.
- Removing an old fence. Haul-off is its own line item when a fence is already there.
- Permits and HOA review. Galveston limits residential fences to 8 ft, with front-yard limits of 4 ft solid or 5 ft if at least 60% transparent (LDR §2.501). A pool barrier has its own code (2021 ISPSC §305.2). Ask what your lot needs before you sign.
Posts needed for 100 ft of fence, by wind exposure
One manufacturer’s maximum semi-privacy post spacing by wind exposure (30″ footing at exposure B, 36″ at C and D), turned into a post count: posts = round up(100 ft ÷ max spacing) + 1.

What moves the price
| Factor | Why it adds cost | Ask your quote to show |
|---|---|---|
| Style | Solid privacy panels use more material than picket or ranch rail | Which style, and the panel count |
| Height | Taller runs use more panel and deeper posts for 8 ft privacy | Panel height and post hole depth |
| Wind exposure | Open, waterfront lots need closer posts and deeper footings | The post spacing used for your lot |
| Gates | Reinforced posts and hardware, plus cure time before use | Gate count, size and post reinforcement |
| Old fence removal | Haul-off is separate labor from installing the new fence | Whether removal is included or a separate line |
| Site conditions | Slope, roots, old footings and drainage add labor | How the quote handles stepping/racking and site prep |
| Permits / HOA | Height and pool-barrier rules can require review | Whether a permit or HOA submission is included |

Turning the total into a monthly payment
We offer financing through three lenders, listed on our financing page:
- GreenSky, with promotional plans that include 0% interest offers for qualified buyers.
- Synchrony, with 0% APR for up to 18 months for qualified applicants.
- Wisetack, with a soft credit check to see options, and no hidden fees or prepayment penalties.
Before you sign, confirm the loan covers the whole job (panels, posts, gates and installation), not just the panels. If an offer is promotional, ask whether it’s “no interest” or “deferred interest,” and what happens if a balance remains when the promotion ends.
What should your vinyl fence quote include, and what is the monthly payment?
Describe the project to see the line items a complete quote should cover. Then enter the total from your written quote to see the payment. We don’t publish prices here: every number in the payment comes from your quote and your lender’s offer.
Line items: CertainTeed Bufftech vinyl fence installation guide (post depth, spacing by wind exposure, steel rail channel, gate post reinforcement); City of Galveston LDR §2.501 (heights); 2021 ISPSC §305.2 (pool barriers). Payment: standard amortization, payment = amount × r ÷ (1 − (1 + r)^−n), r = APR ÷ 12, n = months; at 0% it is amount ÷ n. Lender fees and taxes aren’t included. Final terms are set by the lender and depend on your application.
